Calling all rude boys!

Rude boys unite!

No, I'm not talking about "rude" in the traditional sense, but I mean "rude boys" like this.

Have you ever wondered why I dress the way I do? I know what you're thinking; penguins always wear black and white! Anyways, before I listened to the music I like now, The Specials were my very favorite band. I wear black and white formalwear because of The Specials and the two-tone ska revolution. Penguins like to dance and have a good time, just as much as anyone else. Get stoked on it!

Something I forgot: a special feature of the Percy Eats! blog.

Coffee and Guinness on left, green tea and ginger on right.

The wonderful, subtle Asian pear and Riesling sorbet.

One thing I have discovered recently is Scoops Ice Cream on Melrose and Heliotrope. It's easily one of the most unique and blogged about places in Los Angeles, however no one has dedicated themselves to the study of Scoops' ice cream itself. Every day, the flavors they serve are different and they're all so interesting and flavorful! I am devoting part of this blog to chronicle every visit to this wonderful establishment, taking notes on the flavors I've tried. Maybe one day, they'll take one of my suggestions from the flavor suggestion board!

In introduction.

Dear Reader,

My name is Percival Virgil Penguin. I am a recent transplant to Los Angeles from the North Pole. I know, you must be asking yourself, "What business does a penguin have in the North Pole? Don't they all live in the South Pole?" Well, dear friend, let me tell you, this is a fallacy foisted on you by popular culture; actually, I was born in the South Pole, if you want to get technical, but I moved when I was young, making me a 1.5 generation immigrant to the North Pole.

Anyhow, I moved to Los Angeles for school and have been exploring the city ever since. I've grown to love the city as if it were my home. I plan on staying here and exploring the city and the culture as long as my student Visa allows. I enjoy eating all the food that Los Angeles' diverse cultures offer as well as experiencing the broader culture of the city, including the art scene, any live music or literary events and even just wandering through the many neighborhoods in hopes that I will get to know each of them in their own unique way.

As you can see in my picture, I also enjoy swimming. It reminds me of home, though the water here is much warmer. Luckily, I live close to many pools and the beach, both of which I take full advantage of.

The purpose of this blog is to chronicle my adventures through the city that I now call home, with a special focus on my culinary interests. I've entered the Web 2.0 arena mostly because of my exposure to excellent food blogs run by other residents of Los Angeles. If I didn't have those, I wouldn't know where to eat!

So, dear reader, add me to your blogroll/RSS reader/feed because I promise I will take you on many adventures that you're going to want to be a part of.
